WotD Vocab Set 2



Here they are, copied directly from my twitter page. Make sure you know all the words and definitons. On the test you will be required to define the word and use it correctly in a sentence. 


Facsimile- n.1. an exact copy, as of a book, painting, ect. 2. Also called fax: method of transmitting documents by telephone line

Amok -adverb 1.in a murderously frenzied state, 2. in a violently raging manner, 3. in an undisciplined or uncontrolled manner

Lilliputian - adj; 1. Extremely small; tiny; diminutive. 2. Trivial.

Ubiquitous –adj, existing or being everywhere, esp. at the same time; omnipresent : constantly encountered : widespread

Hallow verb; 1. To make holy; sanctify; consecrate. interjection: 1. Hallo. verb: 1. To shout or chase with cries of "hallo!"

Debonair: -adj 1. Courteous, gracious, and having a sophisticated charm. 2. Jaunty; carefree; sprightly.

Voracious -adj 1)craving or consuming large quantities of food: voracious appetite. 2)exceedingly eager or avid: voracious readers

Superfluous–adj. 1) being more than is sufficient or required; excessive. 2) unnecessary or needless.

Dirge –n 1) a funeral song or tune 2)any composition resembling a song, as a poem of lament for the dead or mournful music

Thwart –v.(used with object) 1)to oppose successfully; prevent from accomplishing a purpose 2)to frustrate or baffle (a plan, purpose)
